Resource Development Director
Position Summary
The Resource Development Director helps manage, organize and implement the overall planning/implementation of the annual campaign for the United Way of Wayne County. This position also provides event management and, with the support of staff, manages the overall organizational marketing and communications; to ensure we meet our mission of uniting people and resources to build a stronger community.
Accountability
Reports directly to the Executive Director, in the absence of the Executive Director, reports to the Chair of the Board.
Essential Responsibilities
Management for Community Campaign
Plan, organize, and manage the Annual United Way Campaign for Wayne County, working with the Executive Director and Volunteer Leadership, while carrying out objectives of the organization:

Support and help facilitate the Campaign Committee, while assuring that staff/ volunteers/campaign managers perform campaign functions and meet required qualifications.

Coordinate, in partnership with Executive Director and other staff, the production of campaign and communications print materials i.e. brochure and Annual Report.

Arrange agency speakers for company campaigns and volunteers.

Deliver campaign information and collect campaign envelopes from companies, working with Campaign Coordinators to ensure effective distribution.

Assist campaign coordinators with all aspects of campaign, including attending and speaking at campaign meetings.

Coordinate, in partnership with the Executive Director, the purchasing of campaign supplies and organization of incentive items necessary to organize a successful campaign.

Organize and maintain current information and records that pertain to campaign accounts. i.e. campaign update and summary, using campaign software “Donation Tracker” and other means.

Research and apply for grants supporting annual campaign.

Assist with Thank You letter mailing

Coordinate the completion of Annual United Way Survey and Database II through United Way Worldwide.
Event Management

Responsible for the planning and implementation of annual events to include but not limited to Golf Tournament, Taste of Wayne, Campaign Kick-Off and Finale and Annual Meeting.

Budget management, procure annual sponsorships to ensure event successes

Responsible for cultivating a committee and volunteers for planning and executing the events. Provide strong leadership to ensure success over events

Assists with Board & Committee Meetings (set-up, supplies, reporting etc.)
Marketing Management
Enhance public awareness of mission. In collaboration with Marketing Specialist, responsible for coordination of items below.

Creation and implementation of a communications plan to enhance the community’s understanding of United Way’s mission in Wayne County.

Qualifications
Education:
-
Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent is preferred
-
Three-five year’s professional work experience required, with two or more years previous experience in a fundraising, development, sales, communication and/or public relations capacity preferred.

Highly organized, mature, self-starter

Strong written, verbal, presentation, and training skills
-
Excellent communication skills, including, but not limited to, web site management, desktop publishing/ lay out design, overall computer experience and media/ marketing expertise

Ability to work flexible schedule, including early and/ or later meetings, as needed
Schedule and Compensation:
Full-time, compensation commensurate with qualifications/ education/ experience. Benefits package includes: health, dental disability insurances, retirement and paid vacation.
