day of action
jUNE 21, 2024

Day of Action is an annual, network-wide initiative aimed at engaging volunteers to complete service projects that support our mission in education, financial stability, and health. Organized by United Way, it typically takes place on or around June 21st, the longest day of the year, to maximize daylight hours for volunteering. During this day, individuals, businesses, and organizations come together to volunteer and make a positive difference in their communities. Activities range from beautifying public spaces and mentoring youth to providing meals for the homeless and supporting local shelters. The goal is to inspire people to take action, create lasting change, and build stronger, more vibrant communities.

need help with a project?

We are excited to announce that we are now accepting service project proposals from local non-profits.

To ensure smooth coordination of the event, we kindly request that all submitted service projects meet the following criteria:

  • They should be simple and achievable within a day or a few hours.*No specialized skills should be required.

  • Projects should not incur any financial expenses for volunteers or involve the use of heavy machinery.

  • A representative from your organization must be available to oversee the project's completion.

While we are thrilled to collaborate, please note that United Way of Wayne County will not be solely responsible for planning and managing the project.

If you would like your service project to be considered, please submit your proposal by May 24, 2024
