Wayne County offers a variety of summer resources to keep youth active, engaged, and learning all season long. From day camps and enrichment programs to job opportunities for teens, there’s something for every age group. Local organizations like Parks and Recreation, the YMCA, 4-H, and Wayne Community College provide fun and educational options, while schools and community partners offer support with meals, transportation, and more. Boys & Girls CLub of Wayne County

The Boys & Girls Club will be having an 8 week summer camp program. We will have 4 location – Goldsboro, Mt Olive, Fremont, and West Haven. It is open to students finishing grades K-12. The theme is Candy Land. During the summer we will have lots of summer camp fun and games as well as focusing on Academic Success, Character & Leadership Development, Healthy Lifestyles, and the Arts. Teens will have a separate space and programs that will engage them in fun and games as well as Money Matters and teen issues.

NC Department of Health & Human Services

Sun Bucks SUN Bucks is a US Department of Agriculture (USDA) program that provides grocery-buying benefits in a one-time payment of $120 per eligible child on a debit-like card that can be used to buy nutritious food during the summer months when schools are out.

HACG will work with Boys and Girls club to offer onsite camp for kids grades K-5 in their Dupont/ West Oak Engagement Center (exact dates and times coming soon). The Housing Authority will also pay for one week of summer camp for any of the kids in our communities who want to attend.

Arts Council of Wayne COunty

They're hosting Summer Art Camp once again! This year our instructors have put together a summer full of creativity inspired by the world around us. Campers will explore the "nature of art" over 5 colorful weeks. There are camps for ages 5-9 and 8-12 with different projects for each week.
Camp runs Monday to Thursday. Choose from half day camps that run 10am-12pm or 1pm-3pm each day or full day camps that run 10am-3pm each day. The weeks of camp are as follows:

Junior Volunteer
Embark on a fulfilling journey with our Junior Volunteer Program that offers teenagers aged 15-18 an incredible chance to make a positive impact on their community while exploring the dynamic world of healthcare. Dive into practical experiences that not only build valuable skills but also cultivate essential work habits for the future.
What's in Store for You?
Junior Volunteer assignments are tailed to your interests, such as patient care unties, recovery rooms, and office support. Engage in a variety of exciting duties like interacting with patients, restocking supplies, and even boosting your retail skills in the gift shop!
General Requirements:
Age 15-18. Must have completed 8th grade when program begins.
Submit your own application and two-character references.
High maturity and commitment level.
Must be available 6 out of 8 weeks during the summer.
If Accepted:
Be fully vaccinated for the flu. Documentation must be provided.
Complete initial and annual health assessment at UNC Health Wayne.
Attend orientation and specialized training.
While volunteering, teen must wear a uniform consisting of UNC Health Wayne polo, khaki pants and a UNC Health ID badge.
Teen must remain on hospital campus during work shifts, unless written permission has been provided by parents/guardians.

The Wayne County Girl Scouts will be hosting a summer STEAM Twilight Camp open to all girls entering grades 1-12. You are welcome to add it to the resource page. NC Coastal Pines offers financial assistance that can be applied for when registering for the event.
